Non-Profit Organization Award

Guidelines

  • The award is intended to recognize the efforts of one member of the Association for Missing and Exploited Children’s Organizations, Inc. (AMECO).
  • Nominations will not be accepted from relatives or friends; nor will they be accepted from self-nominations (staff, Board, or members of the AMECO organization). This is a peer nomination only, meaning that nominations will be accepted from individuals or agencies not affiliated with the nominee yet who are familiar with the exemplary work of the nominee.
  • The exemplary actions of the organization that is being nominated for the award must have taken place within 2013.
  • This award is for an AMECO member within the United States only.
  • Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  • DOJ is responsible for making the final selection of the winner of this award.
  • DOJ reserves the right to not select a winner based upon the applications received.
  • All submitted materials become the property of DOJ.
  • This award is NOT presented at the National Missing Children’s Day Ceremony.

Nominee Criteria

  • The nominee must be an active and current member of AMECO.
  • The action or contributions of the nominee must have taken place in 2013.
  • The nominee must meet one of the following criteria:
    1. Was actively involved in aiding and supporting families and/or children who were abducted, missing, or victimized.
    2. Developed new policies or practices that significantly improved the safety and protection of children from abuse or victimization.
    3. Made a significant impact on the lives of children and their families within their community.
    4. Significantly improved public awareness of the problems associated with missing, abducted, and victimized children.
    5. Demonstrated significant leadership in protecting children while forging positive relationships with local partner agencies and/or organizations (i.e., law enforcement, missing children clearinghouse, school, church).
